"Star-Crossed Lovers" Casting
Shakespeare's Globe has announced the casting for its "Star-Crossed
Lovers" (7th May to 26th September) season: Romeo and Juliet,
Much Ado About Nothing and Measure for Measure. Only one
play in this season will be single gender, with Much Ado being
performed by an all-woman cast. The three plays will, however, be "original
practices" prodctions, using Shakespearean clothing, music, dance
and settings.
The cast of Romeo and Juliet is Tom Burke (Romeo) and
Kananu Kirimi (Juliet), with:

Bette Bourne - Nurse
James Garnon - Mercutio
Bill Stewart - Capulet
Rhys Meredith - Benvolio
Melanie Jessop - Lady Capulet
Joel Trill - Escalus
Callum Coates - Paris
Terry McGinity - Montague
John Paul Connolly - Peter
Simon Müller - Tybalt
Terry McGinity - Apothecary
Tas Emiabata - Abraham
Julia Marsen - Lady Montague
The play will be directed by Tim Carroll. It opens on 7th May and runs
until 26th September.
From 23rd May to 25th September, Much Ado, directed by
Tamara Harvey, will feature Josie Lawrence (Benedick) and Yolanda Vazquez
(Beatrice), with
