Globe to Globe 2012

As we reported in January, in 2012 Shakespeare's Globe is to present the Complete Works of Shakespeare, each in a different language, over six weeks.

The season, which will run from 21st April to 8th June, will present 38 productions from all over the world, finishing with a production of Henry V from the Globe itself.

Amongs productions joining those already announced are:

  • Cymbeline from a specially formed company from South Sudan
  • The Comedy of Errors from Roy-e-Sabs (Kabul)
  • Richard II from Palestinian company Ashtar Theatre
  • National Theatre of China with Richard III (in Mandarin)
  • Q Brothers (USA) will present Othello
  • Grupo Galpão (Brazil) with Romeo and Juliet
  • South Africa's Isango Ensemble will present a stage adaptation of Venus and Adonis
  • The three Henry VI plays will feature national theatres from Serbia, Albania and Macedonia

Each company will give two performances at the Globe, with production lengths capped at two hours and 15 minutes. The shows will not be surtitled, though synopses will be available.
