Godber Sets up New Company Playwright John Godber is to set up a new theatre company based at Wakefield Theatre Royal. The venue will co-produce two tours of Godber's work each year, with a third joining them in 2013. The first will be his new play The Debt Collectors, a comedy about two out of work actors who fall into the world of debt recovery. "I have no doubt the new partnership with Theatre Royal Wakefield will be a happy and productive one," he said. "When considering a home for my new company it made perfect sense to come back to my Wakefield roots." In December last year he ended his formal association with Hull Truck, where he had been artistic director since 1983, to have a" more informal relationship" with the theatre. A spokesman said for Hull Truck, "We plan to have two weeks of Johns production of The Debt Collectors in the autumn season. Thats something that we are very much looking forward to. "Our audiences have enjoyed Johns plays for more than a quarter of a century and so it is only right that Hull Truck should continue to be a home to his work."
