The festival will be divided into three parts, each focusing on a period of Afghan history:

Bugles At The Gates Of Jalalabad by Stephen Jeffreys
Durand’s Line by Ron Hutchinson
Campaign by Amit Gupta
Now Is The Time by Joy Wilkinson

1979 - 1996 : Communism, The Mujahideen And The Taliban
Black Tulips by David Edgar
Blood And Gifts by J.T Rogers
Miniskirts Of Kabul by David Greig
The Lion Of Kabul by Colin Teevan

1996 - 2009 : Enduring Freedom
Honey by Ben Ockrent
The Night Is Darkest Before The Dawn by Abi Morgan
On The Side Of The Angels by Richard Bean

The plays, which run in repertoire throughout the three-months, will be directed by Tricycle artistic director Nicolas Kent and Indhu Rubasingham, assisted by Rachel Grunwald.

Readings of two further plays - Borders by Paven Virk and Eristavi Reserve by Adam Brace, which were both developed by the Tricycle in association with the National Theatre Studio - will take place on 18th May. And on 12th, 19th and 26th May Wallace’s No Such Cold Thing will premiere.

The festival will also include music, films, ceramic and photography exhibitions, talks and discussions.
