Autumn at Hampstead
Anthony Clark, artistic director of the Hampstead Theatre, has announced
the autumn 2008 season, which includes three new commissions.
Turandot
By Bertolt Brecht, in a translation by Edward Kemp
Hampstead commission and the UK premiere of both the translation and
the play
Opening 8th September (previews from 4th)
Brecht's last play and his only comedy
Directed by Anthony Clark and starring Chipo Chung and David Yip
Lucky Seven
By Alexis Zegerman (Pearson writer-in-residence at the Hampstead)
Hampstead commission
A new comedy by the Granada Television reality programme Seven
Up!
4th to 22nd November (previews from 31st October)
Directed by Anthony Clark
The Little Prince
By Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
A new musical version written and directed by Anthony Clark, with
music by Mark Vibrans
Hampstead commission: London premiere
8th December (previews from 4th) to 14th January, 2009
Also in the autumn programme is Polly Teale's new play Mine,
which she directs in a production by Shared Experience. Mine
runs from 9th to 25th October (previews from 7th). Then from 24th to
29th November Michael Pennington performs his two one-man plays, Sweet
William and Anton Chekhov.
