Happy homecoming for Coliseum
Oldham Coliseum Theatre has announced its new programme of productions for a Homecoming Season—returning to their newly refurbished building this October.
The theatre will re-open on Friday October 26 with a special welcome back fundraiser evening titled Curtain Up at the Coliseum as well as a free Open Day the following day to give audiences a chance to take a look around the new building.
The season itself features classic dramas, world premieres and comedies including Alan Ayckbourn's Sugar Daddies, John Godber's Losing the Plot, Charles Dickens's David Copperfield and Alan Plater's Blonde Bombshells of 1943.
The Coliseum also welcomes back double act LipService with their take on the popularity of Nordic detective series, Inspector Norse, and the critically acclaimed London Classic Theatre who return with The Importance of Being Earnest.
There will also be a visit from two local amateur dramatic societies; Ashton Operatic will be performing Mack & Mabel and Congress Players will revive Oliver!.
This will be supplemented by a wide range of one night events from comedy with Dave Spikey and Jeremy Hardy to music from Peter's Friends and a night of brass bands.
