Hazel Court (1926 - 2008)

British actress Hazel Court has died from a heart attack at the age of 82.

Born in Sutton Coldfield, she worked for an optician while attending the Birmingham School of Drama and landed a cameo role in the film Champagne Charlie. However she is best known for her appearances in horror films, both by Hammer in the UK and Roger Corman in the US. She is probably most associated in the public mind with The Raven and The Masque of the Red Death with Vincent Price.

She has a hit TV series in the 50s, Dick and the Duchess, with Patrick O'Neal and comedy was something she enjoyed doing. However she continued to be cast in horror films and even TV - Alfred Hitchcock Presents for US TV, which also played in the UK. She also appeared in TV series, among them Mission: Impossible, Dr. Kildare, Bonanza, Danger Man and The Twilight Zone.

She married British actor Dermot Walsh in 1949 and they were divirced in 1963. She married US actor and director Don Taylor a year later and they stayed together until his death in 1998. She took up permanent residence in the US in the early 60s.
