OSC Announces New Name and New Season

The Oxford Stage Company has announced that it is changing its name to Headlong Theatre. The name has been changed "to respond to the company’s expanded horizons and renewed ambition under the incoming artistic team. The change away from Oxford Stage reflects the fact that the company is now based in London and is committed to touring ambitious and provocative theatre not just across the UK, but around the world."

The new artistic team is headed by Rupert Gould who took over from Dominic Dromgoole in October last year and comprises Gould, along with Henny Finch (Executive Producer), Helen Hillman (Finance Manager), Ben Power (Literary Associate) and Jenni Kershaw (Administrator / Trainee Producer).

At the same time it announced its programme for twelve months:

Edward Bond's Restoration will be directed by Gould and will tour to Bristol Old Vic, Hackney Empire, the Oxford Playhouse and Exeter's Northcott Theatre.

Gould also directs Faustus, an adaptation by himself and Ben Power of Marlowe's play, which will play at the Hampstead Theatre from 16th ob to 18th November.

In addition, there will be productions of Angels in America (Parts I and II) by Tony Kushner, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis and Rough Crossings by Simon Schama, adapted for the stage by Caryl Phillips and based on Schama's book about the slave trade. No dates, venues or other details have yet been announced for these prodcutions.
