Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Leamington Spa-based Heartbreak Productions is to go on a 2021 tour, performing at more than 100 venues across the UK.

The 2020 tour was postponed because of COVID, so Heartbreak is staging the shows planned for last year: The Great Gatsby, Wonder With Grimm, Mr Stink and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Maddy Kerr, Heartbreak’s executive director, said, “we’re delighted to be touring again this summer and hope we can continue to provide safe and exciting entertainment for audiences as the restrictions gradually ease. We can’t wait to see people relaxing with a picnic and soaking up the sunshine while enjoying some cracking theatre.”

Heartbreak and the Nick Carraway quartet will present an adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.

Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, Wonder With Grimm promises audiences “an enchanting evening full of magic, puppetry, music and dance—with altered endings and a modern twist”. To round off the evening, Heartbreak will perform an original fairy tale penned by their Find Your Voice competition winner Kasper, a student from Leamington Spa.

David Walliams’s Mr Stink will return to Heartbreak’s summer catalogue for the first time since 2015. The programme will include the winning poem written on the theme of homelessness for Heartbreak’s 2020 poetry competition.

Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is set in an environmental protest camp. Heartbreak uses Shakespeare’s imagery to emphasise the importance of the environment.
