Derbyshire actress Helen Rutter will perform her one-woman show Human at Buxton Festival Fringe.

She moved to Bamford five years ago after working in London where she appeared on stage at the National Theatre and on screen in Holby City, Coronation Street and Wire in the Blood.

After settling in the Peak District, she began writing. Her friend Colette Kane, who wrote the BBC series Moving On and the play I Know How I Feel About Eve which had its première at Hampstead Theatre in 2013, suggested they write together and the result is Human.

Human is a “dark, powerful story told by a strong northern character” who “tells her story with a humour and honesty that makes it all the more heartbreaking”.

It will be performed in the Pauper’s Pit Theatre, The Square, Buxton on Thursday 7 July at 10PM, Wednesday 13 July at 4PM and Thursday 21 July at 10PM.
