The Goodbye Girl

The Goodbye Girl will get its first London revival in February at Upstairs at the Gatehouse.

This warm-hearted musical comedy has a book by Neil Simon, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by David Zippel; it tells the story of an unemployed dancer who is reluctantly forced to co-habit in the same apartment with a struggling Off-Broadway actor, Elliot.

The original Broadway production of the show was nominated for 5 Tony and 3 Drama Desk Awards; it was first seen in London in 1997 and this production looks to reinvent the show for a new generation while keeping the best of the award–winning writers' musical theatre legacy.

Adam Lenson directs Rebecca Bainbridge as Paula and Paul Keating as Elliot.

The Goodbye Girl runs at Upstairs at the Gatehouse from 4 to 28 February.
