The MysteriesThe Customs House in South Shields is looking for young people aged from 15 to 19 to help create the world and everything in it!

As part of The Mysteries, the site-specific performance at Arbeia Roman Fort in June, the show's director, Peter Lathan, is devising a piece of physical theatre to illustrate the creation of the world and the "creatures of earth which creep and fly" at the beginning of the play.

"It's only a short scene," he said, "and the rehearsal commitment will not be large, but it is important and it's probably something which most aspiring young actors will not have tried before.

"The young people will also be used at the end to shout for Jesus to be crucified and to lead the audience to a different part of the Fort where the crucifixion will take place."

They will be joining a company of 22 actors and a choir of 25 in the production which runs from 22nd to 24th June. Anyone interested should email Peter at [email protected] or phone/text on 07979 864614.
