Hitching to Blackpool & Manchester

Roger McGough - Credit Leila RomayaRoger McGough is the Voice of the Book when The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy comes to Blackpool Grand Theatre next week.

McGough is one of Britain's best loved poets for both adults and children.

Presenter of the popular Radio 4 show, Poetry Please, he was awarded the OBE for services to poetry in 1997 and a CBE in 2004. In 2001 he was honoured with the Freedom of the City of Liverpool.

Starring Simon Jones as Arthur Dent and special guest stars John Challis and Jon Culshaw as The Voice of the Book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy also comes to Manchester Opera House from July 2-4
Members of the legendary radio and TV broadcasts are reunited for these live performances, led by Simon.

Geoff McGivern stars as Ford Prefect, Susan Sheridan as Trillian, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox and the voice of Stephen Moore as Marvin the Paranoid Android with live musical direction from Philip Pope.

In Manchester live on stage playing The Voice of the Book will be John Challis (July 2) and Jon Culshaw (July 3-4). Challis is best known for playing Boycie in Only Fools and Horses, while impressionist Jon Culshaw, as well as his many television and radio appearances, is set to appear in the West End this summer in Monty Python's Spamalot.
