Hollywood On Stage

Two major successful Hollywood films are to appear in the West End in new stage versions.

In September Anna Friel will appear as Holly Golightly in a new stage version by Samuel Adamson of the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, which was based on the novel by Truman Capote. Joseph Cross co-stars as William ‘Fred’ Parsons.

The production will be the second in the Theatre Royal Haymarket's new rep season and will run from 9th September. Sean Matthias directs and the production will be designed by Anthony Ward. Booking is now open.

Currently at the theatre is Matthias' production of Waiting for Godot, starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.

On the planning stage for 2011 is a stage version of Bridget Jones' Diary, another stage version of a film based upon an novel, by Helen Fielding (1996). It will be produced by Working Title which produced the film, its sequel Bridget Jones; The Edge of Reason and the stage and film versions of Billy Elliot.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Fielding has been working on the book for some months and a private reading of the work so far featured Jack Davenport played the Hugh Grant role, along with Victoria Wood and Hary Enfield in a variety of roles.
