Danielle Hope - to play Maria

BBC Television’s Over the Rainbow winner, Danielle Hope, is to play Maria von Trapp in a new production of The Sound of Music.

Since making her professional debut as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Danielle Hope has played Eponine in Les Misérables and Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Martin Connor will direct the show which will have choreography by Olivier Award winner Bill Deamer and musical direction by David Steadman.

The Sound of Music has music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II with a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse from the book "The Trapp Family Singers".

This new production coincides with the 50th anniversary of the film of the same name—the most successful movie musical in history.

The Sound of Music opens at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley then tours to:
