Hushabye Mountain

Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre will work with Stream Theatre on a new online production of Hushabye Mountain by Jonathan Harvey.

Directed by Nick Bagnall, it stars Matt Henry as Lee, Jodie Prenger as Beryl, Layton Williams as Connor, Nathan McMullen as Danny, Amy Dunn as Lana and Harrison Scott-Smith as Ben.

It will be streamed live on June 5, and then available June 11–13 and 18–20.

Hope Mill will be partnering with The Turbine Theatre, Sheffield Crucible, Liverpool Everyman and York Theatre Royal to show the production throughout the run.

There will also be a gala night on June 12, where Hushabye Mountain will be streamed in the theatre for audiences to watch at the venue.

Danny is a young man, waiting to be let into heaven. There seems to be some difficulty, but Judy Garland reassures him as she passes by in a boat full of stars. Away from the afterlife, people who were closest to Danny struggle with his death from AIDS.

First performed in 1999, Hushabye Mountain reveals a world that has learned to live with AIDS.
