Taking Ibsen to Edinburgh Ibsen is one of the most important playwrights in the history of world drama. His work is included in the education curriculum in many countries and his plays are performed all over the world in most languages. His popularity among producers, directors and actors, competes only with Shakespeare. The centenary of Ibsen's death is being celebrated extensively throughout 2006. Thanks to funding from the Norwegian Government we can offer some support to two Festival Fringe shows performing at Hill Street Theatre (Main Stage or Studio). New and existing productions (as long as they have not previously been performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe) are equally eligible. We invite British professional theatre companies or graduating drama students to submit ideas for productions: by Henrik Ibsen; based on Ibsen's work; or inspired by him. A Universal Arts panel led by Artistic Director Tomek Borkowy will choose the two best ideas and they will receive financial support covering between 25% and 50% of venue costs (depending on space and slot time) and publicity costs including:
