Dateline: 8th February, 2008 Into the Hoods at the Novello After two succesful years at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006 and 2007 (see the BTG review), ZooNation brings Into the Hoods, its urban take on Sondheim's Into the Woods to the West End, where it will open on 26th March (previews from 14th). It is booking initially until 10th May. Featuring music from Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Prince, Basement Jaxx, Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson, James Brown, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Black Eyed Peas, Bob Marley, The Chemical Brothers, and many more, and a cast of nineteen adults and nine children (three on stage at each performance), it features ZooNation's trademark narrative street dance/theatre style. Into The Hoods follows two children lost in the hood. An evil landlord befriends the children after they have played truant from school and they are offered a room in his tenement block on the condition that they work for him. Reluctantly, the children embark on their mission which leads them to the flats of Spinderella, where they discover gold Adidas trainers; Lil Red, the owner of the bright red hoodie; Rap-on-Zel, the producer of the finest quality long weave (hair extensions) in the city, and Jaxx (who lives in the basement), the owner of a white I-pod. Director and choreographer Kate Prince has choreographed a range of television (including the BBC's Strictly Dance Fever), stage shows and music videos while the professional dancers in the show perform internationally with artists such as Kylie, Nelly Furtado, Pink, Black Eyed Peas, 50Cent, Beyonce and Snoop Dogg, when not performing with ZooNation.
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
