John goes from Cherry Orchard to ugly sister

Ugly sister Bella: John Elkington

From Chekhov to Cinderella: Nottingham Playhouse panto regular John Elkington, who played Lopakhin in the theatre’s production of The Cherry Orchard, dons his frocks as ugly sister Bella in the Playhouse 2017 panto.

Rebecca Little, who has appeared in eight Playhouse pantos including playing the Slave of the Ring in Aladdin in 2016 and Fairy Bowbells in Dick Whittington in 2015, will be Duchess Dowager Devilla.

The rest of the cast comprises James Nicholson (Prince Charming), Adam Pettigrew (Dandini), Kelly Agredo (Cinderella), Darren Southworth (ugly sister Donna), Claire Storey (Fairy Godmother) and Tim Frater (Buttons). Trev Neo will be in the adult chorus along with Kinden Singh Uppal who makes his professional debut.

Kenneth Alan Taylor directs and writes Cinderella. Designer is Tim Meacock who also designed The Cherry Orchard. Lighting designer is Jason Taylor and John Morton is musical director. Adele Parry is choreographer and assistant director and sound designer is Adam P McCready.

Cinderella runs at Nottingham Playhouse from Friday 1 December until Saturday 20 January 2018.
