Lane Leaves The Producers Nathan Lane has pulled out of the rest of his contracted performances of The Producers because of two slipped discs. A statement from the producers of the show says that Lane has been advised to "abstain from any further performances for the remainder of his London contract, due to finish on January 8." He had already dropped out of one performance, in which the Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles were in the audience, before Christmas. Lane had taken over the part, which he originally played on Broadway, after Richard Dreyfuss was forced to leave before the opening night because of injury. He is due to play Max Bialystock in the film version of the show and it is expected he will be fit enough to do so by the end of February, when shooting is due to start. Understudy Cory English will continue to play Max Bialystock until Brad Oscar takes over, as planned, on 10th January. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
