The Hackney Empire has reached its target of £15m for a total revamp. The final piece of the jigsaw slotted into place when Sir Alan Sugar, former chairman of Tottenham Hotspur FC and producer of cheap word-processors, gave £1.3m. The fourteen month refurbishment of the light enetertainment venue will begin in May.
