The Arts Council of England is to be investigated by the Parliamentary Commission for Administration over an accusation of maladministration by the Open Hand Theatre Company which was refused renewal of its three year grant in April 1998. The company, which had to make ten employees redundant, is claiming that the decision was made without thorough consultation, assessment or review. It has taken the company's solicitors two years to gather the evidence to proceed with the claim.
Actors' club the Green Room has lost its request for leave to against its eviction from its premises and must now leave on 4th April.
