Trouble with BECTU

BECTU is shaping up for three major industrial disputes in the next few months. It is already in dispute with the RSC in Stratford over pay rates and this could escalate to strike action, and pay and conditions in regional theatre are at the root of possible disputes with the TMA. There is also strong disagreement between the union and the Society of London Theatre over pay for Sunday matinees.

Leatherhead's Thordike Theatre is to be leased to a religious sect, which could spell the end of the campaign to reopen the theatre which went dark in 1997.

Actor Peter Jones dies

Peter Jones, best known for his part of the boss of Fenner Fashions in the 60s TV series The Rag Trade, died last week at the age of 79.
