New Home for Yvonne Arnaud

The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre of Guildford may move into a larger theatre under plans being considered by the local council. This proposal fits in with the opinion of consultants employed by the theatre through funding from the National Lottery. they believe that the best option for the theatre is a new 900-seat house, costing around £20m.

Equity to Set up Theatre Task Force

Equity is to set up a Theatre Task Force to lobby for more support, the union's annual conference has decided. It will have contacts with both new Labour MPs and the Treasury, as well as operating on a regional level.

London New Plays Festival

The tenth London New Plays Festival begins on 13th May and lasts until 13th June. There will be sixteen premieres and a debate, at the Apollo, Shatesbury Avenue, between David Hare and Mark Ravenhill about new writing in the commercial theatre.
