Madonna to Join Peter Hall Company
Madonna is to join Sir Peter Hall's rep company at the Piccadilly next year to play Maggie in Cat on a Hot Time Roof. She joins a 40-strong company company which already includes Dame Judi Dench, Elaine Paige, Peter Bowles and Michael Pennington.
A new tour of Jesus Christ Superstar begins on 21st August in Newcastle and is currently booked until 6th February in Belfast, although the Really Useful Company expect further bookings in the new year.
The show will be directed by Gale Edwards and the designer is Peter J Davison. Choreography will be by Anthony Van Laast.
Four Scottish companies are to share a £1.4m stabilisation fund, SAC has announced. They are Scottish Opera and the Scottish Ballet, which will share £750,000; The Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh, which will get £500,000, and Glasgow's Citizens Theatre which will receive £195,000.
There will be a winner of this year's Ken Hill new musicals award, it has been announced. As entries last year did not reach the desired standard, no award was made, which suggests that the Trust is willing to lower its standards this year.
