New RSC productions
The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced four new productions for both Stratford and London:

Swift in the Park
An adaptation of Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels will be performed in Waterlow Park, Brockwell Park, Oxleas Woods, Gunnersbury Park and Dulwich Park (all London) during the summer. Ticket details can be obtained from 020 7237 1663.

Pionter to celebrate onstage
Harold Pinter will celebrate his 70th birthday by appearing onstage in one of his own plays for the first time since 1998. He will play the lead in One for the Road at the new Ambassadors from 3rd July for five days only.

The Royal Court will mark his birthday by presenting Mountain Language and Ashes to Ashes from 21st June. The double bill will transfer to the Lincoln Center in New York in July as part of the Center festival's season of his plays.

Stewart returns to his roots
Patrick Stewart, a Yorkshireman, returns to his roots on 22nd June when he plays in Shylock: Shakespeare's Alien at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.

The Beau closes
Ron Hutchinson's The Beau (Haymarket) is to close on 23rd June after a run of only five weeks. It has been booking till August.

The Female Odd Couple (Apollo) to 30th June, 2001.
