Corpus Christi for the West End?
There is a possibility that Terrence McNally's Corpus Christi, which closed at the Londion Pleasance on 20th November, may transfer to the West End next year if a theatre becomes available.
As the run of the play progressed, protests outside the theatre died down and, in fact, it broke all box office records at the 300-seat venue.
The King and I to open in May
It has been confirmed that The King and I will replace Saturday Night Fever, due to close on 26th February, at the London Palladium. Starring Elaine Paige, it will open on 3rd May, after previewing from 18th April.
The production will also star American film actor Jason Scott Lee.
£1.6m for the Park
The Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has been granted a £1.6m Lottery grant for its first renovation since 1976, providing it can raise an additional £500,000. £250,000 has already been raised as a result of an appeal by patron Dame Judi Dench.
The theatre has already had one Lottery application (for £3m) turned down, and receives no money from the Arts Council, which cut its grant in 1991. It does have a grant from Westminster Council (£9,000), but otherwise relies on sponsorship and box office revenue.
