After cancelling the remainder of the run of Neil Simon's Chapter Two following the fire at Manchester's Central Library on 30th March, the Library Theatre Company will now resurrect its current production for just four performances this week at a different venue. The fire only caused damage to a store room with no damage to the theatre, bar, café or toilet areas, but it was decided to cancel the remaining eighteen performances for the cleanup operation and health and safety checks to go ahead. The four extra performances will take place on a basic version of the original Library set but with full costumes and props and as much of the lighting as can be accommodated on the smaller stage of the Capitol Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th April, including a matinée on the last day. According to director Roger Haines, "The driving force in resurrecting the production was the our cast of Stephen Marzella, Jennifer Lee Jellicorse, Gregory Gudgeon, and Pippa Hinchley." Haines will give a talk before each performance to thank the cast and the Capitol staff for enabling these performances to go ahead. Actor Jennifer Lee Jellicorse was particularly disappointed at the cancellation as her mother had booked a flight from North Carolina to come and see the final performance, but now with the rescheduled performances she will still be able to see the performance and will, according to her daughter, "be beaming tearfully on Saturday". A limited number of tickets are available from the Library box office for £10. The public announcement of these extra performances was delayed to allow those who had bought tickets for the cancelled performances priority for booking. The theatre is scheduled to open as normal for the next production on 19th April for Simon Block's comedy Not A Game For Boys, which runs until 28th April.
