Day of the Flymo

Newcastle's Live Theatre has announced the casting for Day of the Flymo, the second full-length play by Wet House writer Paddy Campbell.

The cast of five features three members of Live's Youth Theatre - Tezney Mulroy (17), Kalam Patterson (13) and Sophie Pitches (16) - and two professional actors - Akemnji Ndifornyen and Jill Dellow.

Day of the Flymo looks at the lives of young people deemed to be chaotic, the mechanisms that swing into action when social services step in and a brother and sister struggling to cover up the cracks.

"I’ve worked in a children’s home for the past eight years and it’s an interesting subject," says Campbell. "It’s not as black and white as people might think."

His play Wet House was chosen as one of the top ten plays of 2013 by The Guardian, was revived in 2014, and then played at Hull Truck before transferring to the Soho Theatre.

Day of the Flymo runs from 8th to 11th April.
