Liverpool’s newest theatrical space The Hope Street Theatre officially opened its doors on Sunday September 23.

Based inside the grade II listed Masonic Hall opposite the Everyman Theatre, this venue will be supporting local professional companies based in and around the city and will also produce its own series of in-house productions including dramas, musicals, comedy and cabaret nights.

Forthcoming productions include a revival of Jennifer Haley’s crime thriller The Nether presented by Falling Doors Theatre (September 26 to 29). The Discordia Exhibition (October 3 to 6) will blur the boundaries between art gallery and theatre performance. Amelia Bullmore's tragicomedy Di, Viv and Rose will follow (October 8 to 11). Ashley Ali’s comedy Life After Life will play for just two nights (October 12 to 13).

James Lacey’s cabaret hit Confessions of a Touring Nun returns (October 14), while Liverpool Arts Society will present a new pirate-based musical Long Joan Silver (October 17 to 23). Liverpool-based Tell Tale will present its latest production At Last (October 24 and 25).

The Hope Street Theatre will become home to Impropriety’s 33.5-hour improvathon Where There’s A Will (October 27 to 28) which will be followed by Travis Alabanza’s Burgerz (November 18) which is presented as part of the 2018 Homotopia Festival.

Ellie Hurt directs Henry Naylor’s award-winning play The Collector (November 7 to 10) before the venue's first in-house production: a revival of Patrick Marber’s Olivier Award-winning Closer (November 14 to 17). Burning Books (November 19) looks at the daily battle facing teachers today. A new adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Gray (November 20 to 24) will make its mark before Drops of Light CIC rounds up the year with a month-long run of the pantomime Aladdin (December 1 to 30).
