Increased Output in Liverpool
In the wake of the city's being chosen at the European capital of Culture
in 2008, Liverpool's jointly run theatres, the Playhouse and the Everyman,
have increased the number of shows they will produce up to the summer
of 2004.
Playhouse
- The Entertainer
by John Osborne
(20th January to 7th February, previews from 16th January)
Directed by John Tiffany, and starring Corin Redgrave, Paola Dionisetti,
Mark Rice-Oxley, Eileen Walsh and Leslie Randall
- Still Life and The Astonished Heart
by Noël Coward
(19th March to 10th April)
Still Life is the play on which the film Brief Encounter
was based)
- Ma Rainey's Black Bottom
By August Wilson
(28th May to 19th June)
Directed by Gemma Bodinetz
Everyman
- The Mayor of Zalamea
By Calderon de la Barca
(13th February to 6th March)
Directed by Gemma Bodinetzand starring Roy Marsden
- Yellowman
