Live Nation and Ticketmaster to Merge Live Nation and Ticketmaster are to merge, it has been announced in the US, although the US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission face demands from the industry to block the plan amid fears that the new £1.75bn company, Live Nation Entertainment, will have a near monopoly in the concert world. Live Nation produces over 16,000 concerts concerts in 57 countries whilst Ticketmaster operates in twenty countries and, in addition to its websites, has 6,700 retail outlets and nineten call centres worldwide. If approval is given, the merger will take place in the seond half of this year.
