2004 - A Good Year for London Theatre 2004 was the second best year for London Theatre on record, says the Box Office Data Report 2004, published by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT). During the year 12,016,233 people attended one of the qualifying performances, a 3.7% rise over the previous year and just 47,867 less than in the best year ever, 2002. The report examines the effect of external factors including seasonal variations, global events and competing attractions such as the Olympic Games. As well as exploring the attendance statistics for the West End as a whole, the report also analyses trends in ticket pricing, compares the performance of subsidised theatres with the commercial sector and discusses audience trends in relation to category of production.
