Proposed Lottery Changes

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt is proposing to lay a Statutory Instrument under Section 28 of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 before Parliament to make changes in the proportion of National Lottery funding available to the various good causes.

His aim is to

On 1 April 2011, increase the share apportionment for arts, heritage and sport to 18% each of the Lottery and reduce the Big Lottery Fund to 46%.
Then on 1 April 2012, increase the shares for arts, heritage and sport to 20% each of the Lottery and to reduce the apportionment share for the Big Lottery Fund to 40%.

The effect of this would be to return the distribution of Lottery fiunds to what it was when the Lottery fost began.

He is asking for views on the proposal and the timing and details of that consultation, with instructions on how to make your view known, on the DCMS wesbite at www.dcms.gov.uk/consultations/7070.aspx.
