The Lowry in Salford is holding a series of open days and auditions around the North West for young performers committed to a career in dance for its Centre for Advanced Training in Dance and Youth Dance Company.

CAT is open to dancers between the ages of 11 and 16 years. It is part of a national pre-vocational training programme funded by the Department of Education, partly to provide grants for increased access to the programme.

The Lowry's Youth Dance Company is for dancers aged 11 to 17 years and performs at events around the North West.

Sally Wyatt, Centre for Advanced Training Manager said, “we are looking for young people who demonstrate exceptional commitment and enthusiasm for dance. We are holding auditions for places on The Lowry CAT course and also The Lowry’s Youth Dance Company and we will be looking closely at the potential of each student regardless of their previous dance experience.”

Further information and application forms for auditions can be found on the NorthWestDance web site.

Open days for CAT are at The Lowry on 14 and 21 May, Coronation Hall in Ulverston on 20 May, Newbiggin Village Hall in Penrith on 20 May and Gymnasium at University of Chester on 21 May. An open day for the Youth Dance Company is at The Lowry on 21 May. Auditions for CAT are at The Lowry on 4 June.
