Luca Silvestrini’s Protein company brings (In)visible Dancing to Hull for the UK City of Culture 2017 from 26 June to 1 July, working with five Hull-based dance apprentices and five musicians and featuring dance artists, skateboarders, parkour and street performers and performance groups from the region.

First staged in Birmingham in 2010, and since in cities all over the UK, over several days, what looks like random incidental behaviour on the streets develops into a full dance performance with live music, culminating in a finale with more than 100 performers, including any passers-by who have learned the steps.

Martin Green, director at Hull UK City of Culture 2017, said, “(In)visible Dancing is going to turn the city into a performance playground, animating the streets of Hull as never seen before. We’re all very excited to see how each performance progresses and involves the people who live in, work in and visit the city. It’s definitely going to be something that must not be missed.”
