Getting Lyrical with Children

The Lyric Hammermsith has announced its programme of children's shows. As well as a regular programme of Saturday shows, the London venue also commissions and produces special shows during school holiday periods.

Follow Perseus on his quest to slay the hideous monster Medusa - she has snakes instead of hair, horrible tusks and claws, and can turn a man to stone with just one look!

As snow clouds gather around the castle turrets, Jape the Jester dreams of one day being as funny as his famous dad. But how can Jape live up to everyone's expectations? All seems hopeless until the most mysterious and extraordinary new friend appears, as if from nowhere. Together they discover that within every dark cloud there can be a silver lining…

The friendly bus driver has one simple instruction for the audience: "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus!" But the pigeon is very clever. He whines, bribes, pleads and even sings a song to get his own way ... Will YOU let him drive the bus? This lively show is full of fun, feathers, and lots of audience participation!

A retelling of the traditional story of Jack and the Beanstalk with puppets, magic, music and dancing! Jack and his mother are down on their luck. Jack, who has an eye for a bargain, can't resist an unusual offer that lands him in a whole load of trouble ... and not just with his Mum! Natural curiosity gets the better of him and before he knows it, he's in the middle of an amazing adventure full of mystifying magic. ……and a rather cross giant!

He always goes to your house but now you have the chance to go to his! Come along if you're not afraid of the dark…

The Guardian recently listed theatre-rites as one of the great British theatre companies of the past 10 years - the only children's theatre company in the list. After a successful run during Christmas 2004, they return to the Lyric with In One Ear for three days only.
Young audiences will be delighted by this magical exploration of how, from an early age, we discover sound.

Parade: FREE Family Fun Day
As a special Easter treat the Lyric is filling every available space in the theatre with a packed line up of free events for all the family including free performances from some of the country's best children's theatre, as well as free puppetry and dance workshops.
Everyone also has the chance to climb into an enormous bed for a rather special bedtime story, experience the world's most unusual orchestra of 'noise' and even meet some real live wolves! Take your family and friends and join in the fun!

Anancy, the mischevious spider-man trickster from Jamaican folklore, has been up to his old tricks again. What has happened to the disappearing dumplings? Story-teller Surya Turner weaves together song, movement and poetry for a special show that will take place in the Lyric Foyer.

Joe is learning all about being a gardener from his Grandfather Harry. He learns how plants grow, why they need water and why the different seasons are so important. But Harry also needs Joe's help; Harry's very forgetful and can't remember what he did yesterday - but together they make lots of new memories for them both to enjoy.
