Contacting the World

For one week in July, Manchester Contact’s Contacting the World festival will celebrate collaboration between six young companies from five countries.

Young people from around the world will create three pieces of new work exploring artificial intelligence, translation, identity and migration in Imitation Games, a performance on July 16.

The young companies from Hong Kong, Denmark, Portugal, Belgium and the UK will collaborate, creating an evening of performance led by three directors.

The festival kicks off July 11 with Welcome to Manchester, a celebration of homegrown performance hosted by Kate O’Donnell (Big Girls Blouse). In the line up are Louise Wallwein, Company Chameleon, Jackie Hagan and up and coming urban music act Cul De Sac.

There will be short films from three local schools and the launch of Making Contact, a film and online project capturing Contact’s unique history.
