McEwan's Miss Marple Airs Next Week Geraldine McEwan is to play Agatha Christie's Miss Marple in a new series of TV films, beginning on 12th December on ITV1 with A Body in the Library, which co-stars Simon Callow, Jack Davenport, Tara Fitzgerald, James Fox and Adam Garcia. The second in the series, A Murder Is Announced airs on 2nd January. In that cast will be Elaine Paige, Zoë Wanamaker, Alexander Armstrong, Keeley Hawes and Robert Pugh with Claire Skinner, Cherie Lunghi, Frances Barber, Catherine Tate, Christian Coulson, Sienna Guillory, Matthew Goode and Virginia McKenna. There are two more films in the series, Murder At The Vicarage (which will co-star Sir Derek Jacobi) and 4.50 From Paddington. The two previous most well-known Miss Marples were Margaret Rutherford between 1961 and 1965 in a series of films directed by George Pollock and, more recently, Joan Hickson, in the BBC version of all twelve of the novels between 1985 and 1992. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
