Dateline: 26th March, 2006
Coming to the Menier Two new priductions have been announced for Southwark's Menier Chocolate Factory. From 27th April (previews from 19th), the theatre will present the world premiere of Chris England's Breakfast With Jonny Wilkinson, built around the reactions to the 2003 Rugby World Cup when Wilkinson's drop goal almost at the end of extra time gave England a 17-20 win in the final against Australia. Chris England will appear but no other casting has yet been announced. The theatre is hoping that the play will cash in on the fever which will surround the soccer World Cup which takes place in June. England was co-writer with comedian Arthur Smith of the early 90s hit comedy - now a staple with amateur groups - Breakfast with Gary Lineker. The sports-related comedy will be followed by the UK premiere of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, which ran off-Broadway in 2002. The musical, a two-hander in which the story is told by the man from beginning to end and by the woman in reverse-order, will open in July, although no specific dates have been set, nor has any csting been done. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
