A series of pop-up dance workshops has been launched as part of the new UK tour of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games.

The hour-long workshops are hosted by the team behind the Michael Flatley Dance Academy and will take place at theatres during the nationwide tour in Wimbledon, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Belfast.

The workshops will include a behind the scenes tour and a Q&A session with members of the Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games cast.

Michael Flatley said, “I am delighted and very proud to launch our pop-up dance workshops as part of the new UK tour of Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games. Our professional dancers set the scene of what it’s like to pursue a career in dance before teaching our newcomers those all-important steps. There’s no greater feeling than inspiring the next generation of dancers.”

Dance captain Tom Cunningham, who has been with Lord of the Dance for 10 years and coaches the dance workshops, added, “our first pop-up workshop was in Liverpool to open the tour and we received an overwhelming response with over 50 dancers and fans taking part—what a fantastic start.

"We are extremely excited to be giving our loyal fans the incredible opportunity to tread the boards with our talented cast. We can promise an unforgettable experience and, who knows, we may just discover new dancing talent.”

The Michael Flatley Dance Academy has 11 locations around London which offer classes which focus on Michael Flatley’s progressive style of Irish dance that incorporates upper body movement with influences from many styles of dance.

Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games UK Tour 2017 continues to Ipswich, Brighton, Woking, Guildford, Plymouth, London, Bradford, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Gateshead, Edinburgh, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Nottingham and Birmingham concluding on Sunday 30 April at the Bristol Hippodrome.
