Kevins Go Free!As Nottingham Playhouse prepares to open the world premiere of its Nottinghamshire comedy The Day That Kevin Came, the theatre is celebrating by having a 'Kevin Day' on Tuesday 3rd June when theatregoers with the name Kevin can have a free ticket. Kevins can claim their ticket for the 7.45pm show by simply calling the Playhouse's Box Office on 0115 941 9419. The Day That Kevin Came is a brand new play, written for Nottingham Playhouse by local writer Andy Barrett. Set in the fictional ex-mining village of Eastead, the locals win a Regional Lottery Award to make a video to put Byron on the tourist map. As the casting process begins, up and coming Hollywood hotshots Starlight Productions have ideas of their own when looking for a film to catapult Kevin Costner back into the movie top 10s. Meanwhile, back in Nottinghamshire, news of the superstar's arrival gets everyone on tenterhooks. Whilst forklift truck driver Darren believes he's got what it takes to appear alongside the superstar, his wife Jenny does nothing to conceal her obsession with her very own Prince of Thieves. Ben Roberts, from ITV's The Bill, plays Horace, the secretary of Eastead Miners Welfare, who does his best to convince his village pals that they are ready for the Hollywood machine to roll in, and Terry, ex Water-Board and wannabe film director, dusts down his clapper board in anticipation. Another familiar face in The Day That Kevin Came is Stuart Milligan, from BBC TV's Jonathan Creek and ITV's Crossroads, who plays Don Winkler, the American producer looking to bring Kevin Costner back to Nottinghamshire. The production is directed by the Playhouse's Artistic Director Giles Croft and runs from Friday 30th May - Saturday 21st June. The Garrick's official launch will be in September. The £5.5m theatre will transform a single, 400-seat venue into two separate spaces, a 490-seat main theatre and a 170-seat Studio. It is said to be a fitting memorial to the 18th century actor David Garrick. The festival runs from 1st to 12th July. Website: www.lichfieldfestival.org
