Mike Reid (1940 - 2007) Mike Reid, best known for playing Frank Butcher in the soap EastEnders, has died suddenly of a suspected heart attack in Spain at the age of 67. He began life as a petty criminal and was a frend of the infamous Kray brothers but a spell in prison made him reconsider his life and he became a film stuntman in the 1960s, when he worked on, among others, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Spartacus. He was also stunt double for Roger Moore in the TV series, The Saint. He turned to stand-up, playing clubs and cruise ships before making a national impact in the 70s in the TV show The Comedians, alongside, among others, Bernard Manning and Frank Carson. He joined the cast of EastEnders in 1987 after playing parts in Minder and Doctor Who and a stint as presenter of the children's TV programme Runaround. he left EastEnders in 2000 but made two brief returns, in 2002 and 2005.
