Goodnight Mr Tom

The stage version of family classic Goodnight Mister Tom is returning to Manchester Opera House next month, as part of its new national tour.

The production enjoyed great success in the West End and on tour in 2012/13, winning an Olivier for Best Entertainment and Family production.

The novel is celebrating its 35th anniversary and Michelle Magorian’s uplifting tale is brought to life in this stage adaptation by David Wood.

Set during the build up to the Second World War, the story follows young William Beech, evacuated to the idyllic English countryside where he forges friendship with elderly recluse Tom Oakley.

David Troughton, currently the voice of Tony Archer on BBC’s The Archers, takes to the stage as Mister Oakley and is joined by an ensemble cast with six young performers cast in the key roles of William and Zach.
