Barmy: the sequels continue in the Horrible Histories series

Birmingham Stage Company is marking its seventh year in the West End by staging the world première of the fourth instalment of Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain.

The new show will be written and directed by Neal Foster, actor-manager of the BSC. He also directed parts one, two and three of Barmy Britain at London’s Garrick Theatre, The Best of Barmy Britain at the Apollo Theatre and More Best of Barmy Britain at the Garrick.

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain—Part Four features new scenes including ruthless Romans, Mary Tudor knocking the spots off Mary Queen of Scots and a peep into the world of Samuel Pepys.

One of the best-selling authors of the 21st century, Terry Deary is the creator of Horrible Histories and has written about 50 titles with total sales of 25 million in 40 countries.

As well as adapting Deary’s works, Neal Foster adapted and directed the national tours of Awful Auntie and Gangsta Granny by David Walliams.

Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain—Part Four will be designed by Jackie Trousdale with lighting by Jason Taylor, sound by Nick Sagar and music by Matthew Scott. It runs at London’s Apollo Theatre from 2 August until 1 September.
