Dateline: 14th December, 2003 Miss Saigon for Sunderland The first show to benefit from the £4m refit at Sunderland Empire next year will be the touring production of Miss Saigon, which will be the theatre's first major touring show after the refurbishment is completed in November 2004. The refit, which concentrates almost entirely on the stage, will make the Empire the only theatre between Leeds and Edinburgh which can accommodate shows of the scale of Miss Saigon. "It is the sort of show the refurbishment is for," said general manager, Dominic Stokes, who was recently named General Manager of the Year by Clear Channel Entertainment which runs the theatre. Miss Saigon opens on 18th January, following next year's pantomime, and runs for seven weeks, until 5th March. Tickets will go on sale early in 2004. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
