Middle Ground Theatre Company’s A Murder Is Announced: one of the shows visiting Lichfield Garrick in its new season

Lichfield Garrick’s season until June 2016 has a murder-mystery theme and “boasts an impressive array of shows and events to suit all tastes”.

Big shows visiting the theatre include Middle Ground Theatre Company with the Miss Marple mystery A Murder Is Announced (23 until 27 February), Tell Me on a Sunday featuring Jodie Prenger (3 until 5 March) and the return of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap (4 until 9 April).

The season is the first under the direction of the theatre’s new artistic director Tim Ford. He said, “I’m delighted to introduce the new programme and in particular I’m excited about the start of our new, cutting-edge theatre programme in our studio, Garrick Introducing.

“The Garrick Introducing programme will showcase some of the UK’s most exciting and critically acclaimed emerging artists and theatre companies. There’s something for everyone, from I, Elizabeth (9 and 10 June), the multi-award winning drama, to the brilliant Sleeping Trees and their comedy production of Western (21 May).

“There will also be lots of exciting new shows being made and opening at the Garrick, including Oddsocks Theatre’s summer tour of Much Ado About Nothing (7 and 8 June) and Vamos Theatre’s remounting their production of The Best Thing (1 and 2 July) before going on an international tour.

“It’s also a great thrill to be welcoming some of the hottest companies to the theatre including the internationally renowned Propeller and their production of Pocket Dream during the February half-term (17 and 18 February) and the amazing Balletboyz and their new show Life (28 May).”

As part of the Garrick’s commitment to developing local talent, the theatre is hosting its first community musical The Hired Man. The production will run from July to August and will include local singers, actors, dancers, musicians and technicians.
