The National Dance Company Wales autumn tour, titled Folk, will visit Bangor, Birmingham, Newtown and Cardiff during September and November.

Created by NDCW’s Artistic Director Caroline Finn, Folk, the headline piece, visits themes of social dynamics. This piece will also be performed at Tanzmesse International Festival in Germany on 1 September.

They Seek to Find the Happiness They Seem by NDCW’s Rehearsal Director Lee Johnston is an exploration of the separation and disconnection within a relationship, a duet set to music by Max Richter. Tuplet, the third dance in the programme for Bangor and Birmingham, is created by Alexander Ekman, the dancers’ breath and bodies creating a drumming soundtrack in a mix with electronica and the jazz sounds of "Fly Me to the Moon".

Profundis is a new work for NDCW by Israeli choreographer Roy Assaf, inspired by the chorale of De Profundis composed by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Profundis will première in Newtown and then be performed in Cardiff, forming a double-bill with Folk for the November run of NDCW autumn tour.

NDCWales will present a bilingual Family Interactive Matinée in Bangor, where families can take part in activities with the dancers on stage and watch a performance of Tuplet. In Newtown, schoolchildren will be able to take part in dance and see a matinee performance of Folk.

Complementing the tour are NDCW’s new evening classes at the company’s home and venue, the Dance House, at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
