A Respectable Wedding

A newly-formed theatre company whose six founding members range in age from 24 to 70 will be performing at 53two Theatre in Manchester for the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.

Root & Branch Productions has chosen A Respectable Wedding by Bertolt Brecht for its debut, from July 10 to 12, in a translation by comedian Rory Bremner.

In the past year, Root & Branch members have performed in venues as diverse as York Minster, Salford Arts Theatre, New Wimbledon Theatre, Lawrence Batley Theatre and Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park.

In A Respectable Wedding, the audience is invited to a wedding reception but, despite the mother-of-the-groom’s desperate efforts to make this a ‘proper’ wedding, no one is having much fun—not least the bride and groom.
