New Dawn Fades, which enjoyed success at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, the Macclesfield WinterFest and on tour, takes to the road again in March.

Telling the story of post-punk band Joy Division, it also tells the story of the city that made it, Manchester.

Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis committed suicide at the age of 23. He was the band's sole lyricist and New Dawn Fades features live performances of his songs written with bassist Peter Hook, drummer Stephen Morris and guitarist and keyboard player Bernard Sumner.

New Dawn Fades is written by Brian Gorman whose credits include Everyman: The Story Of Patrick McGoohan—The Prisoner, the stage version of Blade Runner (co-writer) and writer/artist of the Joy Division graphic novel.

James Foster directs Michael Whittaker as Ian Curtis, Natalie Perry as Debbie Curtis and Lee Joseph as Tony Wilson co-founder of Factory Records and the founder and manager of Manchester's Haçienda club.

New Dawn Fades tours as follows:

  • 29 March to 1 April – London Highgate Jackson’s Lane
  • 4 April – Bury Edmunds Apex
  • 7 to 9 April – Liverpool Epstein Theatre
  • 14 to 16 April – Manchester Dancehouse
  • 18 and 19 April – Leeds, City Varieties
